Step By Step Painting

Here's a few shots of me instructing a class for Wine and Canvas, Las Vegas. This painting, entitled Morning in Venice, was a fun one to do. It's really nice to get back to my roots and paint on canvas. Over the past few years I've focused mainly on digital art which I also love, but I must say, there's nothing quite like putting on an apron and getting messy with good ol fashioned paint! Come view our schedule here at www.Wine AndCanvas.com

My First Oil Painting

A sample from my gallery of oil paintings. This was my first attempt with this media. Done during my freshman year at Cal State Fullerton. I attended CSUF on a full ride scholarship for Track & Field, Cross Country, as well as through the Fine Art program. Many argued that I should have attended art school upon graduation from El Toro High School, however, my true passion at the time was running. Having just come off a stellar senior year where I had set school records in the Mile (1600 meters) and 4x400 relay, I wanted to explore where else my talents on the track and trail would take me. Unfortunately, due to excessive running on the concrete roads that surrounded Cal State Fullerton, my knees only lasted one season of cross country as a Titan. Two years and two knee surgeries later I was still unsuccessful in my attempt to return to competitive running. However, during this time off I was able to hone in on my other talent which was art. As you can see here in this painting, my heart was still on the trails...

Fine Art Charcoal Portraits

Hand drawn charcoal portraits is one of my specialties. I love to spend time adding details to the face through the use of extreme lighting and shadows. To achieve looks such as the ones here I prefer to take pictures using my own photography skills. This way I can truly capture the best angle and light for the best composition for the portrait. These make wonderful gifts for anniversaries, weddings, birthdays, marriage proposals, Christmas, Hanukkah, valentines, day, and so on. Original Limited Prints are available for purchase at Ed's Deviant Art Gallery. If you would like to commission a portrait for yourself or a loved one please fill out an online request form.

Who new there was a Zoo?!

I recently discovered that there is a zoo just a few miles outside of Las Vegas in the city of Moapa! The zoo is called Roos-N-More Zoo. Not a significantly stunning or large zoo, but I must say it was pretty cool to be able to hang with some camels, monkeys, kangaroos, and tigers just a few minutes from from Vegas! The best part about the zoo is that guests, with the lead of a zoo keeper, are allowed inside the animal enclosures where you can stand eye to eye next to some really cool critters. Here's a picture of me with a cute little jungle kitty! I just may have to come back next time with my sketch pad so I can sit down and draw some of the slower moving animals!
